SMARTCLOCK: A Tablet-Based Biometric Attendance Kiosk with Edge Processing, Liveness Detection and Privacy-Compliant Dashboard

Touchless time-in and time-out for the staff of PSU Asingan.

About

Two steps for one fact

At PSU Asingan attendance is recorded twice: first by means of a fingerprint reader and then the same recording is copied by hand onto the Daily Time Record. The current system replaces both of these procedures with a single touchless scan. A terminal located in the corridor detects the employee's face, verifies that it belongs to a living person and not to a photograph, and then records the time.

Each punch is recorded in one record, and each individual looks at the section of the record that relates to them. HR observes the day as it takes place, produces Civil Service Form 48 for one employee or for the entire campus, and is responsible for maintaining the holiday calendar. An employee opens their own record and prints the same Form 48 that they have signed. All administrative actions are entered into an audit trail.

The system continues to function even when the network is down: punches taken during an outage are stored on the terminal and resent once the connection is restored. When at rest, face descriptors are encrypted and never leave the server, with no photograph of any individual being retained.
